I won't 'drone' on for too long...

Hello again,

Now how do I work this thing??? It's been awhile since my last post, relevant excuses as long as my arm can explain why but I won't bore you. I have been painting when I can and I have nearly finished the Pathfinders. I felt like painting something different so I thought I'd start on the Drones. The sept colour is orange and is quite hard to see, I might outline it with a darker colour so that it snaps out more. Here it is:

Stay tuned for pathfinders later on in the week. Bye for now.

Climate changes the 'climatic' ending...

Sorry Folks but the weather has made it too hot to paint.... AGAIN!! I will try and do some to get these pesky Pathfinders off my desk. In the meantime though I will show off my Tau Ethereal. It is the Limited Edition one from 2001. I picked it up at a convention for £1! He does however have one of his staff pieces missing, but that doesn't matter to me because he still looks great:

I tested out a marble painted base, the tutorial supplied by James Wappel. It looks more like a wood piece from his home planet. That will fit in quite well with my story for my new Tau when I re-paint them. Bye for now.

More of the West Wind!

Hello,

Here is another West Wind Dwarf with Spear. This was done to practise flesh and hair. I would thoroughly recommend West Wind if you want to practise flesh, fabric, wood or hair. The areas listed on the models are very easy to paint and figure out where the light source etc would be. The models aren't metal but tin. Very bendy if you are not careful. Here he is:

The digital picture kind of bleaches the colour but there is a lot of subtle shading on the flesh. Stay tuned for the Pathfinders tomorrow. Bye for now.

Gruesome Ghoulsters - Golems and Ghouls

Hello,

Here are the Golems and Ghouls that I promised earlier today. I used a variety of inks and washes to create the ghastly bits and bobs. I will say though not to use too much ink, water it down and add some paint or coloured wash into it so it doesn't become glossy on the figure. Something I realised after painting. Here they are:

The close ups are of the ones I haven't already posted. May not be able to post again tomorrow but will try, bye for now.

Ready! AIM..... (and let other things fire XD)

Here is another Pathfinder with his shas'ui and Shield drone. I really like doing all the free hand on the models, I really liked doing the crossfire on his helmet and the shield on the drone. The shield has the tau letter for P (P for Protection). Here they are as a group followed by some close -ups:

And now for some close ups:

And the normal pathfinder:

Will post another Golem and Ghoul from my Bloodbowl later tonight. Bye for now.

Testing! Testing! 2of 2

Hello,

As promised here are the images of my Golem for my Gruesome Ghoulsters Bloodbowl team. I'll compare it with the rest of the team I did a month ago at some poiint to show the improvement that  anyone can achieve. Here it is(again poor pictures, sorry):

This is a converted Mantic Zombie, very nice to paint with a lot of easy detail to paint. More pathfinders coming on Monday, may get something up tomorrow. Until then, bye for now.

Testing! Testing! 1 of 2

Hello,

Sorry for being a day late but the weather was so nice yesterday that it was too hot to paint, but do not fear I have more posts near! In this first post I will show you my test model for the Tau Pathfinders, then I will post up another for a Gruesome Ghoulster Golem! Try and say that with a grape in your mouth! I am splitting up the posts so that I can label them accordingly. Here is the Pathfinder ( sorry folks the photos didn't turn out as well as I would have wanted them to, I will try and get a new camera for the future but for now you'll just have to put up with this one XD) :

As you can see they are slightly different from the ones in the codex, I have painted the studs on their leg with the colour of their squad, and made their grenade green. The next post will be up later tonight to give you a chance to look at this one. Bye for now.

A gruesome outpost...

This is a crater that was bought for my club, I have had it sitting around for a while now and thought I should slap some paint on it. It took me about 45 mins to 1 hours to finish. I literally just took my big brush and slapped some paint on it and washed it down if the colours were too bright. I made it quite gruesome with different colours of blood, alien and human. It will be used for 40K. It was a nice sculpt with various details, I don't know who made it but I would like to, any ideas?

I will post again on Friday. Pathfinders are making their way through the painting stages. Bye for now.

An surprise in store, for those who have been before...

Hello,

Now this post has an unexpected visitor, one that I am grateful for but it was totally unexpected. I managed to finish off another Battlesuit, this time I painted him up like a Shas'vre, the other just a normal Shas'ui. I really like the green that I used for the Sept colours, I also liked doing the free-hand flame on the flamer, I might do the same on the plasma but have it with plasma colours like blue
and green or purple and pink. Anyway here they are:

I wrote "Shas'vre" in Tau on the rim of the base to separate him out from the other Battlesuits. Thought it looked cool. Next on the agenda will most definitely be pathfinders as I have still to undercoat the other Battlesuits. There will be no posts on Tuesday or Thursday this week as I will be golfing pretty much all day. Will try and post something on Wednesday, bye for now.

Nick Lund - Barbarian with Axe and Shield

Hello,

I thought now would be a good time to have a wee break from Tau and focus on some of my miniatures. I painted this guy yesterday and practised a lot of blending right down to the tooth on his necklace. I also had another chance to try NMM. Some areas came out better than others but that is what learning is all about, making mistakes then capitalising on them by knowing what to do the next time. He was in terrible condition when I was given him but with a wee bit of love goes a long way. I didn't do his base but will maybe do it later. Really nice sculpt and here he is:

Surprisingly it didn't take me that long to paint him. It would be great if you could give me any tips on how to do NMM or give me a link to a good guide on how to do it. Keep your eyes peeled for the first Battlesuit, I'll post him tomorrow, bye for now.

Firewarriors - Group 1 (Post 3 of 3)

Hello again,

I have now finished off the first Firewarrior Squad. I really enjoyed painting these guys, but I now have Pathfinders and Crisis Battlesuits to look forward to. Here are the photos of the last guys and then a group shot:

I had a busy day today, I went to a Wargame Convention in Edinburgh bought a lot of paint and some cool models that will appear sometime in the near (far) future. It was sunny there but here is what I came home to:

And here is a video so you can see it for yourself:

Bye for now.
