Leopard Speckled Kroot!?

Hello Folks,

Well it has been well over a month since my last post which was my commission Aun'Shi. Which was a pleasure to paint despite what you might think. So what have I been doing these past few weeks. Well quite a lot but not a lot if you catch my drift. I attempted the Vespids but realised I didn't have the GW colour, so I thought, "Let's mix it, how hard could it be..." trust me, it was difficult. So I dropped the Vespids for now and picked up on my Saga stuff and managed to get the models done for a warrior unit with the shields still WIP. I have just recently started on my clients Kroot so that you guys have something new to look at for that. But surely if I haven't painted any Kroot how come the title suggests I have? Well let's see, shall we?
The sharp eyes of you mysterious lot will have noticed that my tags show that it is actually my own Tau Army I have been painting... SAY WHAT!? I know what you're thinking, I have so much other stuff to do Tau wise and I am doing my own which could surely wait. My inspiration came from where I work. I work Saturday mornings in my friends reptile shop and I noticed these cool little guys called, 'Leopard geckos'. Now none of them had interesting colour choices so I scoured the web and found an orange and blue Thai Gecko (Above) and thought, "That would be cool to paint kroot like that!" So I did and here is the first test miniature for my New Thai Tau!:

 As you can see I have only added spots to the outside of his legs and arms and a few on his back. Also his body spikes are orange but his nails are black, this is because I want battle hardened Kroot, not pedicured pups.

That white marking you see on his shoulder pad has no real meaning but I am planning to incorporate in all my Kroot as their Sept marking, also my initials have been painted in gold.

I decided to make the handle of the gun black to contrast with the bright blues and oranges. Surprisingly I also found it hard to get the right colour for the piece of meat on his back. I might do a tutorial for this scheme but that will be in the distant future. Tell me what you think in the comments below, is there anything I should change? Thanks for reading, next up will most likely be my Saga stuff, then some more green kroot and maybe even a practise Firewarrior with this new scheme.
